Vertical Diner

Vertical Diner operates at 234 W 900 S in Salt Lake City, working the diner format entirely from plants. It has been at this since 1998, which makes it one of the longer running plant based kitchens in the city.

Breakfast is served all day, which shapes how people use the place: pancakes at four in the afternoon are as normal here as a dinner plate. Comfort food, organic dishes, small plates, and dessert fill out a menu that also covers lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.

A bar operates onsite with cocktails, beer, wine, and hard liquor, and the coffee and tea selections get their own mention from regulars. Late night food extends the kitchen past the usual close.

The room is set up for a wide range of visits: quiet and cozy, family friendly with high chairs and a kids menu, a private dining room for groups, gender neutral restroom, and dogs allowed both inside and on the patio. Reservations are accepted, parking is free lot and street with usually plenty of space, and wheelchair access covers the entrance, parking lot, restroom, and seating.
