The Engen Hus Bed & Breakfast is an inn with Norwegian ski heritage set near the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon in Salt Lake City, Utah. The property traces back to 1949, when its original five log cabins were built on five acres from timbers salvaged after a Montana forest fire; the present inn occupies one of those cabins.
The cabins were raised by a family of Norwegian immigrants whose ski careers later earned them places in the National Ski Hall of Fame, with the inn’s own history recounting an Olympic team captaincy and a world record Nordic ski jump. The property operated as a log cabin bed and breakfast starting in the late 1980s, then gained a second floor in a 2014 renovation and its current name in honor of that Norwegian heritage.
