Ensign Elementary School

Ensign Elementary School is a public school in the Salt Lake City School District, located at 775 East 12th Avenue in the Lower Avenues neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Utah. The school serves students from prekindergarten through grade 6, with enrollment of 361 students and a student to teacher ratio of about 19.5 to 1 for the 2024 to 2025 school year, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. Ensign is led by principal Erik Jacobson and assistant principal Jason Beach. The school’s mascot is the Eagle, and Ensign offers an After School Program and an Extended Learning Program for students who need additional academic support. GreatSchools gives Ensign a summary rating of 9 out of 10 as of August 2026. Note that Ensign serves elementary grades only; it is not a middle school, despite a grade range error that has appeared on some third party listings.
