The Bayou

The Bayou operates at 645 S State St in Salt Lake City, known first for the size of its beer selection and second for a menu that goes well past standard bar snacks. Appetizers, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, pastas, salads, and soups all appear on the same list.

Cocktails, wine, and hard liquor round out the bar, and food is served at the bar as well as the tables. Vegan and vegetarian options are available, and dessert stays on the menu.

Live music is part of the calendar here, and the room keeps a casual, cozy feel that draws groups, college students, and visitors. Late night food carries the kitchen past the point where most downtown blocks quiet down.

Doors open Tuesday through Sunday, with Saturday and Sunday starting in the late afternoon and Friday and Saturday running to eleven. Parking is a mix of free and paid lot and street, and a space can be somewhat difficult to find at peak times. Wheelchair access covers the entrance, parking lot, restroom, and seating.
